Needless to say, dead week and finals week tend to test the limits of everyone on campus. Everything is eerily quiet…
I mean, even Andrew Romans’ teddy bear was trying to commit suicide a few days ago.
This week, not wanting to be crushed under the weight of the week, my roommate and I have been finding ways to get our minds off of stressing about finals week. What have we done?
Well, it all started on Pintrest.
Rach invited me to Pintrest the weekend before dead week. Probably not the greatest decision we ever made. Nine hours later (same day) we had tons of foods we wanted to try making. The next week, we decided to try one of them out. We made a s’mores-esque dessert, and it was fantastic. (http://www.bakedperfection.com/2008/07/smore-cookie-bars.html)
We had a little too much fun making it. We accidentally doubled the first few ingredients (the measuring cups were weird. It made us miss our mommies’ kitchens), so we ended up making twice as much as intended. We also decided to crush our own graham crackers, but we didn’t have a bag so we beat them between paper towels on the table. It was the perfect de-stressing activity.
Then, I decided to make Christmas trees out of Reese’s candy.
Yes, I know that Reese’s already makes trees, but I wanted cuter ones.
I went to the store on campus and bought 3 packages of 2 regular sized Reese’s cups, a bag of Reese’s miniatures, a king sized bag of Reese’s mini’s, a box of Reese’s pieces, and some Rollos. The lady behind the counter said I must really like chocolate and peanut butter, but she hoped I was making something with them. I must admit that both statements were true. But what if they hadn’t been? What if it had all been for me? I think it might have hurt my feelings a little bit.
I then used what I had bought to construct my trees. I used some of Rach’s peanut butter to stick the cups upside down on top of the Rollo from biggest to smallest, and then I put a yellow Reese’s piece on top for a “star.”
I must say, I was very pleased with the result. I think I shall make some more when I go home (assuming I survive my last two finals.) Maybe I’ll used Reese’s big cups for the bottom. I started to the first time, but I didn’t wanna go overboard. I think I have enough money left on my meal plan to make about a hundred more trees.
